Coming on the heels of the financial meltdown of 2008 and amidst the subsequent dramatic events we were given the challenge to come up with an opening scenesetter for the Iod Convention at the Royal Albert Hall, London that was not afraid of confronting the realities of what was happening, but also, somehow, provide a glimmer of hope. Against a background of newspaper headlines and a falling base rate the script was conveyed as strong statements with the visuals (and set lighting) moving from stark black and white to colour, with glimpses of the speakers who would be appearing during the day.
