The Florrie Reborn
Heritage Lottery Fund
Closed for over 20 years, the 19th-century Jacobean-style Florence Institute in Toxteth is one of the oldest surviving purpose-built youth clubs in the UK. For nearly a century ‘The Florrie’ was at the heart of the community, providing a centre for young people in the local area but suffered years of neglect. With the help of a £4.13 million award from the Heritage Lottery Fund the Florrie has been transformed from a burnt-out shell back into a thriving and vibrant hub for the local community. The footage our team shot has been supplemented by fantastic 'before' imagery shot for the Florrie – demonstrating exactly what the HLF can help to achieve for places and people.
